Kyran Mish
Kyran Mish is the resident old man of the OU structures faculty. He arrived at Fears Lab late in 2002, with the goal of rebuilding the moribund structural engineering program into a modern educational enterprise that stressed the integration of research and education.
Mish’s past experience is in both academia and engineering practice, including faculty positions in the University of California and the California State University systems. He also has done consulting work in transportation engineering for California’s Department of Transportation and for various private structural engineering firms. He also has worked at all three U.S. nuclear weapons laboratories, so his expertise spans both targets (CE) and weapons (ME and EE).
Professor Mish teaches courses in structural analysis, applied mechanics, and various topics in structural design. His research efforts are focused on advanced computational analysis techniques, including scalable finite element methods and computer visualization.
